Pediatric Dentist

affectionately known as “Dr. Mac”

My passion has always been to care for children. My love for science and medicine, coupled with my love for children, was a natural marriage. I often say I don’t go to “work”, I go to “play” because I absolutely love what I do! Being able to relate to a child on their level and helping them overcome their anxieties is very rewarding to me. To see a child transition from being extremely fearful to running in and actually love coming to the dentist is a joy to see, and it is quite rewarding to know that I played a part in turning things around for a child.

I attended the University of NC at Greensboro where I earned bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Public Health before continuing my education at the University of NC at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry.  After receiving my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from UNC,  I attended the University of Florida where I specialized in pediatric dentistry.  My advanced training allows me to provide comprehensive dental care for infants, children, and teenagers including those with special needs. I am also trained in growth and development, conscious sedation, and hospital dentistry.

I am very active in my dental community and I enjoy memberships in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), North Carolina Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (NCAPD), North     Carolina Dental Society (NCDS), Old North State Dental Society (ONSDS), and Pedo Gators just to name a few.

My time outside the office is spent vacationing with my husband, JJ and traveling with our 2 kids, Seth and Kirsten’s sports teams.

Dr. Robert Selden

Orthodontist

commonly known as “Dr. Rob”                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

A native of North Carolina, he attended The University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill where he received all of his training. After graduating with distinction from UNC with a degree in Chemistry, he enrolled in the UNC School of Dentistry where he received a DDS degree with highest honors.

Dr. Selden then completed his residency training at UNC’s Department of Orthodontics. Today, Dr. Selden maintains close ties with the UNC School of Dentistry. He is an adjunct professor in the department of Orthodontics where he helps train the orthodontists of tomorrow.

Currently, Dr. Selden maintains memberships in several professional organizations. These include the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), the American Dental Association (ADA), the National Dental Association (NDA), and the Old North State Dental Society (ONSDS). Additionally, Dr. Selden is an Affiliate of the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO).

Dr. Selden has a passion for dentistry and orthodontics and actively strives to improve patient’s quality of life through their dental health, appearance and function.

Dr. Selden is happily married to his college sweetheart, Sharay, and is the proud father of three beautiful children.
